Criterion A: Investigation

The project we are doing is Inventions and Inventors. I got the Cell Phone, which I’m pretty happy about because I already know quite a lot about cell phones already, at least the modern ones. The cell phone started as a radio-telephone, invented by Nikola Tesla in 1892, was only used on the battle field, and was big, and heavy. Then Motorola invented the first commercial in 1983, which cost $4000, and took over $100 million to create and was the first portable cell phone called the DynaTAC 8000X. It weighed 2 pounds, earning the nickname “The Brick”.

The unit question was “How to Inventors come up with ideas and create their inventions?” Well, first I think is to have a great idea. You can brainstorm, or like many inventions, was thought of randomly. Like how the apple fell on Newton’s head and he discovered gravity. Then design the invention, drawing it out, and getting the basic idea of what it’s going to be. Then put the design into action. Start to create the design, and what I think is important, is to keep it a secret so nobody will steal your idea. Create the invention, and then make a copyright or a patent or something like that, so no one will claim to have invented it before you so you will get all the credit. For the cell phone, Nikola Tesla didn’t discover radio waves, but he invented the radio. See what I mean? Discovering is one thing, and inventing is another.
